Hi,

My name is Brian Peters and I was born and bred in a small mining village called Patna, in the Doon Valley, close to the lovely seaside town of Ayr, on the south-west coast of Scotland. I had a great childhood spent among the hills and lochsides of south Ayrshire where the weather could be cold but the hearts of the people were always warm. The door of our house was rarely locked and family and friends walked in and out at their leisure. At our many family gatherings there was hardly ever need for records to be played, everyone got a turn to sing a song, whatever style that would be!

My musical education started with my big brother Douglas, who being 6 years older than me, (leaving home to join the Army at 16) left me, at the age of 10, with a collection of records from Status Quo, Thin Lizzy, Boston, Nazareth, etc. and my big cousin John Meek, who has played the bass guitar in bands since he was 16, and had the biggest record collection I had ever seen! I was often up at his place borrowing albums.

When I left school there was unfortunately no work at all in the area, and so I left home to join the Royal Air Force as a Radar Technician. In my time in the Air Force I learned how to fix aeroplanes that they wouldn't fall out of the the sky too quickly, and how to drink foreign beer without falling down too early in the evening!

In 1996 came a big change for myself. I was posted to the Falkland Islands (more or less by the South Pole), and during that time I met a guitar player who would introduce me to "the blues". Jimmy Boyle was his name and he could play the guitar "like he was ringing a bell"! We ended up playing everywhere on the Islands with "The Fasthand Blues Band" with me singing for the very first time. I especially liked being flown into one gig by a Chinook helicopter. Everyone was standing outside the hall waiting for us and we walked off the helipad, on to the stage, and started playing! (Mick Jagger eat your heart out!)

That gave me the taste for more. When I left the Air Force soon after retuning from the Falklands, I began singing for "Black and Blue" - a rock formation from Maastricht, including Marco Hermans (now with "Billy's Bad Boys"), and then with "The Bridge" including my 'best buddy' Lei Stevelmans.

After that I served my blues apprenticeship with "The Bluesy Dukes", "The Blues Compression" and "The RoadRunners" (together with Lei).

Now over a year down the line with "Beale Street" and enjoying every gig we play.

Cheers,
Brian
